Cleft Lip Repair, Cleft Palate Repair, Bilateral Cleft Lip Repair

Each of the three CDROMs demonstrates the repair of cleft deformities in children. Australian plastic surgeon Dr Michael McGlynn from Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick gives a step-by-step commentary from the start while assessing the deformity, to marking the points of incision and then each part of the repair.

Animation at the beginning of the video and during the procedure shows each step clearly. Dr McGlynn narrates as he operates. Close-up photography gives the surgeon's perspective of the operation and a wider view of the theatre shows the roles of nurses and others.
A transcript of the narration, medical glossary of terms and additional graphics complete the package. The users are able to move from the video to the other elements and back again as they wish.
These three CDROMs are part of the Interplast Australia Surgical Series. They were funded by AusAID, the Australian Agency for International Development, and have been distributed throughout the Pacific and Asia, and as far west as Turkey and Nigeria, to surgeons and trainees.
